In February 1970, Eric toured the USA with Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett including dates at the Fillmore East in New York and Fillmore West in San Francisco.
In late August, Derek and the Dominos paused the UK club tour for a visit to Miami where they recorded the doubled-LP masterpiece "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" at the Criteria Studios, under the supervision of Tom Dowd. Eric also made a short trip to Paris on September 22 for a jam session with Buddy Guy and Junior Wells who performed the opening act at the Rolling Stone's concert. The following day he went back to England to continue the tour.
The Dominos toured America in October and November. In contrast to the generally unambitious venues where they had played their British dates, the American tour was sheduled for stadiums. The band's American tour wasn't too successful and the record company had to rush around telling everyone that "Derek is Eric" to clear up any confusion.
